A Brief History
Rule

Ferree & Associates, Inc. was formed in 1978 as an Executive Placement company to service the hotel / resort sectors of the hospitality industry. Ongoing research on the industry, properties, and companies was recognized as the key to differentiating this company from other Executive Search and Placement companies. Those research efforts were greatly aided by Tom Ferree's previous affiliation with two Fortune 100 companies. Our mission statement is two words: "Continually Innovate."

Securemploy was initially a specialty human resources organization specializing in ideas to increase the productivity of people. Their view of the world: problems are created by people and can, therefore be solved by people. In 1986 Securemploy was acquired by Ferree & Associates, Inc. and became the Research Division. Since 1987 Securemploy has been a major profit contributor to the company.

Secure-Profits was formed as a separate division in 1995 to market services and products uniquely designed to save at least 50% compared to the cost of current alternatives.

Hospitality Online was formed in 1998 as the industry's leading interactive advertising site on the internet for hotels and hotel companies to advertise their job openings.

Rule

1978-1982

The company established itself as a professional, progressive placement firm that did it's homework. Clients established during that time period are still the core of our business. We quickly became known for our understanding of and research on: companies, hotels, and resorts/conference centers. By 1982 we were tracking about 250 chains and management companies. Purpose of the research? To reduce the time it takes before a new employee starts contributing to their employers profitability. The sooner the employee contributes the better their odds of promotion while the client improves profits.

1983-1987

The industries most extensive computerized data base on properties, hotel chains, and management companies was established. It shortened job searches by 3.3 weeks, more than enough to pay our fees. 1984 the top 2000 clubs in the US were added to the data base. 1985 we started using Diagnostic Evaluations to better match individual management styles to the styles of the employers. 1987 the innovative Securemploy Program for employers was introduced to further reduce their expenses. Securemploy Pinpoint Ads were introduced to replace classified advertising while saving hotels and companies time and money. The number of management companies and chains tracked increased to 800.

1988-1992

In 1988 a subscription service was offered to applicants providing them information on companies, resume advice, and a monthly newsletter on employment issues and job search tips. Customized mailing lists of management companies were first offered. 1989 Pinpoint Plus was introduced, combining the benefits of Securemploy Pinpoint Ads with the advantages of Diagnostic Evaluations. Convention Centers and Visitor and Convention Bureaus were added to the data base. 1990 the Diagnostic Evaluation was made available to applicants and clients. It speeds the learning curve for new employees by up to 9 months. 1991 Securemploy introduced Candidate Sourcing, a program using professional researchers to identify (source) individuals who might be interested in an employer. 1992 saw the introduction of The Revenue Generator, a monthly newsletter identifying the best incremental revenue producing ideas being used by other hotels. The number of management companies and chains tracked expanded to 1200.

1993-1997

1993 we arranged a tie-in with The Transient Edge, a program to train Front Office personnel to do telemarketing and to train the reservations staff to book 80% of their calls instead of the industry average of 30%. We wrote a column for Hotel & Resort Industry covering unique solutions and approaches to industry opportunities. 1994 The Revenue Generator became Profit Power, reflecting the industries shift to an emphasis on increasing profits. Hospitality Heart Beat was introduced in 1994 to pass along tips and ideas to hotels and companies, and to introduce them to unique services / products to make their operations more efficient. The number of management companies tracked increased to 1520. Spring 1995, a third division of the company was formed, Secure-Profits. This division offers innovative products and services, that have not been readily available, that will save hotels at least 50% compared to existing products or services. Secure-Profits currently offers products to convert re-roofing to preventive maintenance, thus avoiding expensive capital projects. Re-roofing and roof repairs can now be done by your own maintenance departments. We even show hotels how to turn roofing projects into profit centers.

1996 Introduced our internet site -

1997 was spent rewriting software to enable our database to be fully interactive.

1998-2003

1998 we introduced www.hospitalityonline.com to the industry. Hospitality Online was, and continues to be the most comprehensive Internet employment site for our industry. Features include complete descriptions of hotels and companies, with pictures, logos, maps, reservations link, etc. Applicants have access to all the information they need about jobs, including salary and benefit information. Hospitality Online is the fourth Division in the Ferree & Associates, Inc. family.

1999 many new features were added to Hospitality Online. The search Division of Ferree & Associates switched to 100% retainer base. Meanwhile the Securemploy Division continues to meet the needs of those employers who desire an employment option other than search.

2000 Hospitality Online was spun off as a separate corporation in recognition of its size. Securemploy, Secure-Profits, and Ferree & Associates Retained Search remain under Ferree & Associates, Inc.
